Sensory Visions
"Sensory Visions" is a contemporary new course focusing on public art, XR technologies, and community engagement through real-time data visualization. create public art that sparks dialogue on societal and cultural issues, using data to reveal the unseen dynamics of our surroundings. Emphasizing hands-on learning, students will employ advanced realtime generated visualization techniques, and Extended Reality animation, to produce immersive art that narrates compelling stories about our environment.
Key to the curriculumis an ethical approach to data, exploring issues of privacy and bias while fostering collaboration between students and the community od the city of Mesa, AZ. The course finale features student work in a public art exhibition at Mesa City Hall and the MIX Center’s interactive facade. Showcasing their innovative work to engage the public in meaningful conversations about art's role in societal change.
This endeavor is supported by a partnership with the City of Mesa and Ambient Weather and the MediatedX Research lab, providing access to real-time environmental data that students will interpret and transform into impactful installations. This collaboration enriches the educational experience, bridging the gap between academia, art, and community engagement for lasting
environmental and policy advancements.
